I have experimented with translating Traffic Patterns, both motion-generated and observed, into motifs for textile design – some in collaboration with other designers and others as personal projects.

This series of drawings started by accident. Experimenting with a tablet PC while riding in the car, I found that the bumps and turns of the road led to some interesting patterns and textures, a visual “EKG” of the road.

In addition to digital traffic patterns, I have developed a practice of capturing motion non-digitally, using pen, pencil, ink, and paint. I sometimes choose to make these pieces alongside the digital drawings.
