On International Pi day in 2011, I saw a video of a man playing notes that had been assigned to numbers 0-9, using the order of the digits of pi as the “score”.

In 2013, I circled back to this idea as a way to experiment with color palettes . Using the infinite numbers pi and phi as generators of painting sequence, I made a series of paintings. With each painting, I tweaked my code to determine what exact ratio of colors gave the feel of the source I was using for a palette reference. I tried out different formats. I did paint-offs to choose which infinite number yielded the most please flow of color. In the end pi won.
